High Security Alert in Thailand

Media reports indicate that the security forces are now on a higher alert following an advisory that Thailand is one of the many countries at risk from IS.

As in western nations, the security forces have raised security at airports and at major tourist cities, following an advisory  statement issued by the US Embassy in Bangkok based on US intelligence.
This is not the first time that security has been tightened recently.  a similar advisory from the Russian Embassy also saw an alert last month.

With Western and Asian nations all working  IS Awareness campaigns, Cities such as Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Phuket can expect to see a visible security presence.

CARRYING DOCUMENT AT ALL TIMES

Carrying valid Thai ID and/or copies of passports along with copies of the visas inside them is a requirement in Thailand.  In fact it was required that the original passport be in your possession at all times.  a recent statement in Bangkok allows copies to be accepted as long as you have access to the original.  Thai people too are required to have their ID with them, this is not a discriminatory requeirement but a logical one, especially at times of heightened secuirty.

In Pattaya and Chiang Mai, Police have had cause to visit tourist establishments and take in all visitors without ID.  To date they have all been able to find their passports in hotels or room where they stay.  To date all have been treated well and freed without penalty HOWEVER there is provision within the Thai law to fine if required.

Carry your Documents at all times.  Thailand is a safe country, no more or less dangerous than any other tourist country, Assisting police and authorities by carrying documentation will free them up to deal with other problems and lessen the chance that you evening is interrupted

Top Chinese Tourist Destinations in Pattaya

Pattaya Floating Market: 10 reasons Why It Is One Of the Top Chinese Tourist Destinations in Pattaya

We couldn’t be happier about the popularity of these attractions are having with Chinese tourists. As Jomtien Beach’s most well known luxury property developer, we are ecstatic to learn Pattaya is viewed in such a positive way by Chinese visitors and investors. Before continuing reading about our lovely floating market, make sure you learn the details about investing in Pattaya and the reasons why Jomtien is becoming Pattaya’s fastest developing area.

Thai Food

There is food represented at the Floating Market from every corner of Thailand. Delight in North Eastern fare like Som Tam Bpu Bpala (spicy papaya salad with rotten crab) and fresh vegetables with Nam Prik Tha Dang (spicy fermented fish paste) Barbecued chicken and sticky rice.

The North Eastern region of Thailand is also knows as Issan and you will find some of the spiciest food on the planet comes from here. The foods suggested here are intense, spicy, sour, sweet, salty and bitter all at the same time creating a veritable symphony of flavors. If you want to be ultimately adventurous try this super spicy fare.

On the other side of the Kingdom far to the south you will find some of the best curries around with ingredients like bamboo shoots, lotus stems, and phak tong, a japanese pumpkin.

The central region produces milder fare and is known for the variety of kanom (snacks and desserts) available. I suggest the cotton candy like knom from the Ayutthaya region, the former capital of the kingdom of Siam.

For Northern fare check out all the different types of sausages available to try. Some are spicy and some are sweet. They are made from pork, chicken or fish.

Perhaps before you decide on the best type of food for lunch you should tour the market in the traditional style.

 Thai Food

As far back as the late 1600s the Ayutthaya region was known world wide as the Venice of the East. This feeling is still captured when visiting there, and the floating market of Pattaya has captured the essence of this feel as well.

Hire a row boat (bpai lira) powered by a man to tour the 100,000 sqm market the traditional way. The boats are typically large enough to accommodate up to 4 people. The ride down the canals is peaceful and you can even conduct business from boat to boat just like they have been doing in Thailand for hundreds of years.

28 Russian Hookers Busted In Pattaya Go-Go Raids

Two Walking Street go-go bars were busted on Monday night with Pattaya police cuffing 28 Russian and Kazakh dancers found to be working illegally.

Six women working without work permits were taken from Moulin Rouge with a further 22 arrested at Crazy Russian Girls.

Down the station background checks were run on all the women with 25 found to be working illegally. All were detained and face charges and deportation with the club owners also looking at court for illegally employing foreigners.

Raids on Russian go-go bars are nothing new with several losing their entire staffs for anywhere from a day (Moulin Rouge, Galaxy) to permanently (B-52), depending on the “agreement” they have in place with authorities to allow foreign women to dance semi-nude in Thailand when work permits for doing so are impossible to get.

Moulin Rouge was last busted on July 28, 2013.

That theatrical crackdown netted the arrests of 11 Russian employees, including nine dancers, who were threatened with deportation for working illegally or employing illegals.

Established for nearly 10 years, Moulin Rouge is hardly a secret to police. In 2008, the “misunderstanding” that led to the raid was quickly sorted out, as the eight supposedly illegal dancers were released by the end of the night and the bar was operating as usual the following night.

This time around it’s unlikely anything will be “sorted” so easily with a nationwide crackdown against human trafficking and the current wave of raids on Pattaya bars and clubs in a bid to weed out illegals and visa overstayers.

7 more carriers look to U-tapao Airport, #Pattaya

At least seven airlines are planning to begin operating at U-tapao Rayong Pattaya International Airport to serve tourists and business travelers.

Rear Admiral Worapol Tongpricha, director of U-tapao Airport, said it had received more commercial air traffic since it opened full services.

He said at least seven airlines including Hong Kong Airlines, China Southern, Okay Airways, Emirates, and local operator Pattaya Airlines planned to operate flights into U-tapao Airport.

Hong Kong Airlines plans to operate four fights per week, while China Southern expects to start operations in January. Pattaya Airlines will resume its services. The rest are working on their business plans.

Worapol said Terminal 2 was still undergoing construction at a cost of Bt800 million, but when it is completed next year it will increase annual capacity by a million passengers.

From October last year to last month, the number of passenger rose tenfold thanks to more airlines using the airport.

"We believe that U-tapao can attract more airlines and travellers as its passenger service charge of Bt400 per passenger is lower than Bt700 at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Parking and landing fees are also more than 60 per cent cheaper than at Suvarnabhumi," he said.
Several airlines are already operating scheduled flights at the airport such as Bangkok Airways, Kan Air, and Thai AirAsia. Tassapon Bijleveld, chief executive officer of Thai AirAsia, said the airline inaugurated four new routes yesterday, flying from U-tapao Airport to Chiang Mai, Udon Thani, Singapore and Macau.

The airline celebrated the occasion by giving 60 young people from Chiang Mai and Udon Thani their first flight experience, flying them to U-tapao to visit HTMS Chakri Naruebet, the Royal Thai Navy's aircraft carrier.

AirAsia now operates eight routes from U-tapao Airport. It flies to Kuala Lumpur four times weekly, Nanning three times weekly, Nanchang four times, Singapore seven times, Macau seven times, Chiang Mai 10 times, Udon Thani seven times and Hat Yai four times, for a total of 46 flights a week.

U-tapao Airport is AirAsia's fifth flight hub connecting the Eastern region to the rest of Thailand and international destinations, and the airline has noted a strong positive response.

"We are proud to have to started and to be a part of U-tapao Airport's burgeoning vibrancy and ability to welcome commercial air travel. We have stationed two Airbus A320 [aircraft] at U-tapao Airport, which serve a total of eight routes," Tassapon said.

Thai AirAsia expects to serve 14.5 million passengers with a load factor of 82 per cent this year. Next year, the airline hopes to carry 16.5 million passengers with an 82-per-cent load factor.

The airline is scheduled to receive five more aircraft next year, which will help it add two new routes to India and several in the domestic market.
